Focusing on "green development," the forum advocated for a shift from consumption to circularity and sustainable industry ecology. The forum debuted BOE’s sustainable brand "ONE" (Open Next Earth), previously launched in Beijing.
Over 100 industry experts and partners attended, including John Kymissis, President of the Society for Information Display; Dr. Yan Qun, President of SID China; Diana Ürge-Vorsatz, Vice Chair of IPCC and Professor at Central European University; Cheng Ming, Senior VP of 3M’s Transportation and Electronics Division; Yao Huan Chao, General Manager of Air Liquide (China) Investment Co.’s Electronics Business; Jimmy Smith, Global Business Manager of Lenovo’s Monitor Business; Dr. Cheonhong Kim, Display Architect at Meta; Chen Heqiang, VP and General Manager of GE Healthcare China’s Supply Chain; and BOE executives Feng Qiang, Yin Xiangnan, Jiang Xinqun, and Guo Jian.
BOE Green Stragety: ESG Practices
The forum marked BOE’s leadership in the industry’s sustainable development and offered valuable insights for Chinese tech companies exploring green development and ESG practices globally.
In his speech, BOE CEO Feng Qiang noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the UN Global Compact’s ESG concept. He emphasized that the display industry, a cornerstone of the digital era, faces an unprecedented height in the "Green Development" agenda.Over the past 30-plus years, BOE has integrated "Green Developmentinto its strategy. It believes that truly great companies are defined not only by technological leadership or market size but also by their ability to meet the demands of the times and create sustainable value for humanity. By embracing green development, BOE aims to work with partners to shape a greener, more innovative, and harmonious future.
Green Manufacturing:Zero-carbon Production
Guo Jian, General Manager of BOE’s Chongqing 6th Generation Flexible OLED Production Line, shared BOE’s green technology and manufacturing efforts. He outlined three key measures: green product planning from the outset to reduce carbon emissions; low-carbon design, materials, and end - of - life treatment; and carbon footprint quantification, disclosure, and certification. These measures embody the "whole-life-cycle" concept to support environmental sustainability.
BOE actively responds to the national carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality strategy, exploring carbon-reduction opportunities and innovative energy-saving initiatives. In green manufacturing, BOE has built multiple green factories.
To date, BOE has 18 "National Green Factories," including the display industry’s only "National Zero-waste Enterprise," one "Lighthouse Factory," two "Zero-Carbon" factories, seven factories with UL 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill Platinum Certification, and nine factories participating in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Looking ahead, BOE will continue its green operations, promoting a low - carbon transition through energy - saving technologies, AI applications, efficient management, and resource integration to lead a zero-carbon future. Guests at the event shared their sustainable development initiatives and expressed interest in collaborating with BOE on green production, manufacturing, products, and applications.
AI+ Display Technologies:Driver of 4th Industrial Revolution
BOE places great emphasis on innovation. In 2024, it launched the "AI+ Display Technologies" strategy, focusing on AI + manufacturing, products, and operations. At the forum, Jiang Xinqun, BOE’s Senior Vice President and Co-CTO, highlighted that AI is a key driver of the fourth industrial revolution, reshaping various industries.
